BOARD DISCUSSES, ACCEPTS, CENSURES

The ban on swimming in Hope Mills Lake will continue as the town tries to follow the state protocols for state water quality testing, but they are having difficulties getting responses to calls because the state has been very involved with testing at White Lake recently. They have some plans but want to make sure they follow state rules.
Town officials agreed to seek further ideas and work on sign and food truck ordinances over the next month or so.
Budget talks will continue over the next few weeks as well, and some discussion and decisions are expected in June. At this time no tax increase is planned.
The board voted 3-2 to censure Commissioner Mike Mitchell for recently bringing up concerns about other board members in public and private venues rather than to the board members themselves.

UPCOMING REMINDERS:
Town offices will be closed this Monday, May 28, in observance of Memorial Day.
At 4 p.m. VFW Post 10630 will hold its Memorial Day ceremony at the Veterans’ Memorial.
Thursday, June 7 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. there will be another food truck rodeo in the Town Hall parking lot.
Next regular board meeting is Monday, June 4, 7 p.m.
