The decorations are already up, and this Saturday the Christmas celebrating will start in Hope Mills.
From 8:30 am to 11:00 am, Santa will eat breakfast with the kids at the Recreation Center. Pancakes, eggs, and bacon or sausage will be served, and the cost is $5 per person. Call the Parks & Recreation Department at 424-4500 for reservations, as long as it’s not too late.
From noon to 7:00 pm, check out the merchants on Trade Street at “Christmas on Trade Street.” Games and exhibits will abound, and vendors will provide refreshments.
At 3:00 pm, the floats, marching bands, beauty queens, and anyone else who registered (who knows, maybe some who didn’t?) will start the Christmas Parade down Main Street. Mr. and Mrs. Claus will be at the end of the line.
At 5:30 pm, the Festival of Lights concludes the day at the Gazebo at Hope Mills Lake Park. The town Christmas tree and star will be lit, carols will be sung, and cocoa and cookies will be available.
