At tonight’s town board meeting, officials restated their continuing plans to finish replacing the dam and officially refilling the lake for the first time since the last time it broke: 2010. Inspectors finished their inspection this past week and approval for the refill should be coming within a few weeks. After that, it will be about three weeks to gradually allow the lake to refill, and hopefully by summer, or earlier, the lake will be back.
Commissioners also approved a site plan for a Cape Fear Discount Drugs store near the Pizza Hut on Main St., and discussed building sidewalks near the town complex on Rockfish Rd. and Johnson St., as well as changing Johnson St. to one-way.
A $28,000 advertising contract with Up & Coming Weekly was also discussed.
